Hi Friend!
Several weeks ago, I mentioned that on April 3rd, I got laid off from my corporate job. If you missed the news, you can read about it here.
Over the past month, I have soaked up a lot of lessons, but the biggest change I have noticed is my pace. It’s slower, calmer, and more enjoyable. Even the pace of my weekends seems to be more joyful and like floating through the day. Sunday evenings are not filled with angst; for another week, I going to a job that paid me well but was no longer where God was calling me. I was stuck on back-to-back meetings when I wanted to be writing and speaking.
Interestingly, even though my pace seems different, I’m still getting a lot done. I’m not sitting around eating bonbons, but let’s be real; I am reading a little more!
I’ve finished writing two fiction books and sent them to my editor; I’ve booked a couple of speaking engagements and taken on several new coaching clients. I started a Giving Your Best Life Book/Supper Club (let me know if you want to join us on June 25th!).
I'm filling my schedule with what God wants me to focus on versus what the world and corporate job told me to focus on.
Yesterday, a friend visited after church, and we had lunch. I made a pot of veggie soup. We sat in the kitchen and caught up on life. It had been way too long. Not that I couldn’t do this before, but it’s like I needed to save my Sunday time for me, because of the rat race ahead.
I know God had me in the corporate world for 15 years and it served my life, and so many others, in those years. But, I’m grateful he has taken me out of that environment. Over the years, I slowly refocused my priorities: God. Husband. Family/Friends. Giving Gal work. Corporate Work. Before 2017, it had been Corporate work, Giving Gal work, and everything and everyone else when I “found time.”
I write this email to encourage you, that if your priorities are all mixed up, you are running out of steam, and you are no longer finding joy in your work/daily life, maybe this is your wake-up call to set aside time to pray and ask God, where and how he wants you to spend your time and then start working on rearranging your schedule, saying no to things that no longer align to your priorities, and yes, to a calmer, slower pace of life.
If you don’t know where to start, I have a few coaching spots. Send me an email to schedule your complimentary 1:1.
Blessings,
Stephanie
